wow,The rarities just keep coming . Fun to see for sure, but not
Ulmer--whose Captain Black I really LOVE--is not at his best here.
Wonder how much of this material will keep coming out of peoples
closets, amazing.

Great, THANKS ! I saw prime time almost half a dozen times, and Ornette
is easily one of my all-time heroes (right up there with Ives in my
heart). He recreated jazz not once but twice, once with bop and once
with fusion , and he did it with a stubborn , singular sound i just
loooooooooooooooooooove.

Kickin' mucho ass. I think I saw the 1979 clip back in the day. I'd been
a fan of Ornette for some time, but I didn't hear his electric band
until "Dancing In Your Head" around 1978. This is the first I've heard
the acoustic quartet with guitar. Got to admit it sounded pretty weak.
Instructive to hear these two clips back to back. You can really see the
genesis of Prime Time.

I heard the Prime Time band in the early 80's, a radio-broadcast from
the North-Sea Jazzfestival, which I taped. I believe they had a complete
double rhytm section then, two guitarists (Bern Nix and Charlie Ellerbee),
two bassists and two drummers. I got "Dancing in your head" shortly after
that.

Just found out, that Bern Nix did a recording as a leader too. It's on
amazon. Check out the clips :

I can't form an opinion on it by the clips alone.

I find these small clips of the beginning of tunes at Amazone, really not
working for jazz. I find myself everytime hoping I can catch a part of the
improvisation, but those clips are only long enough too hear the head.

How is his improvising on this record ?

The heads sound like it's between the Prime Time Band and mainstream.

I like the idea of incorporating things form freejazz into mainstream.
