#1: Classical Guitar Crossover

Posted on 2005-06-30 17:03:41 by joemontgomery2

I dabble on classical guitar...have commited a few pieces to memory
(Bach, etc.) and they go over great at weddings and occasionally I love
to get away from the amp and the b5#9bb14 and quasi "pump" nylon on the
Sor tradition.

What's a good source for 'lead sheets' for classical guitar pieces?
Right now I need Villa-Lobos Bachianas Brasilereiras #5 and a few other
things I'm finding easier to locate, like Bouree in Em....

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

JM

This is the standard one that everyone here in SoCal uses for casuals.

You know, I may not have answered your question correctly. If you are
looking for ":lead sheets" I'm thinking reduced scores with just the
melodies and the chord changes. That would be the classical fakebook I
recommended. I don't think the Bachianas is in there. perhaps you mean a
good source for classical guitar music, in general. In which case, try:

and

The Villa Lobos is available at GSP
http://www.gspguitar.com/jsp2/listProduct.jsp?cat=sheet& scat=classical_guitar_voice&alpha=V&display=40&n avSet=1
Cheap, too!

If you have a University nearby, check their Music Library. Often a
treasure trove of classical guitar scores.
