Posted on 2006-07-10 14:05:36 by rlam

the ark band was pleased to be on the bill where mikey dread from jamaica
headlined and sounded great with those blazing horns and good with that
awesome band. the opening act that we followed was seefari from dayton ohio
area.
we added our brand of caribbean music - reggae et al- in between.

giving thanks,

rlam, sounds like a great day. who played in mikey's backing band? were
there a lot of dub effects?

tim,
mikey and the band were hot! better than i expected, :-)
not many dub effects...
all i know from what mikey said on stage is that the drummer was JA, the two
horn players/sax and trombone were from miami and LA, very good,
i think bassie/ralph? was from NC, and there was a keyboardist/JA? and a
gits;

good gig...very receptive and relaxed audience...
reggae at its best for the community in inity...

sounds good. i think he draws from a fairly large group of potential
players.

he's always put out a good vibe regardless of whether he was being backed by
the Fully Fullwood band with Scientist or the local reggae band.

wish you guys would come through NC someday-the old Itals USA did it from
Ohio on a regular basis. great band, with a very cool drummer who used to
sing Legalize It.

Yeah. Ralph is out of NC. Wicked Bassie, and SINGS as well as plays. He's
putting on a Reggae Show next Saturday in Chapel Hill at the Wetlands. I
made a post about it a couple days ago. I'll be there.
