#1: "Coal Mining Town" by Don W Williams

Posted on 2006-07-11 16:12:55 by Will Dockery

Check out my friend and fellow Shadowvillian Don W. Williams' song
"Coal Mining Town":

http://www.myspace.com/dlwilliams

Great folkie-protest feel to it, interested in any comments, which I'll
pass on to Don, who was a regular poster here a couple of years back.

Don W. Williams:

"I got into folk music in the early 60's, followed by the British
Invasion of the Beatles, Stones and others. Over the years I have
listened to classic artists such as Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, early
bluesmen (Mississippi John Hurt, Rev. Gary Davis, etc.), Johnny Cash
and Paul Simon, among many, many others. Today's artists include Fred
Eaglesmith, Lucinda Williams, The Malvinas, Emmylou Harris, Dar
Williams, Blue Rodeo, Slaid Cleaves and John Prine, plus others. I tend
to do more acoustic, "new folk" kind of stuff. But I think you can
listen to, and appreciate, many different forms of music. I remember
playing a harmonica at about age 5, but I really didn't start serious
playing on the guitar until the mid 60's. I played a lot from 15 until
my early 20's, when marriage and college took all my time. I played
infrequently until about 5 years ago when I got involved with a church
band. Since then, I have learned mandolin, started writing and singing.
Music is a big part of my life now."

> like you and someone like me who cares about how my products sound.

What "product", Meat?

You haven't once had the courage to post an Mp3 of your music here, never
mind that you already admitted you've never even written a song.

> > What "product", Meat?
>
> The product of a band filled with talented members, something you'll never
> have. A "product" of dedication and hard work and not a slobbering mass of
> untuned, out of time garbled bullshit that exists in everything you
> produce.

Yet two years later and still you have no Mp3 to back up these
claims... although Karla lied once and claimed to have heard it... heh.

> > You haven't once had the courage to post an Mp3 of your music here,
>
> It's not a question of courage of which you know nothing about other than
> your courage being poured out of a bottle of whiskey. I won't stoop to
> your level and compare anything of mine

Because you have nothing... we know.

> to the laughable bullshit you
> dribble out in a highly intoxicated state, Will.
>
> > never mind that you already admitted you've never even written a song.
>
> What would you know about writing a song? You've never written anything
> anyone besides yourself could call a song.

While you've never written /any/ song, by your own admission, that you
or anyone else can call /anything/, Meat.

Got something? Post it.
