#1: Epiphones on sale at MF

Some serious savings. Looks like that post about Epi revamping their line
at winter NAMM is ringing true.

You should get a job with MF as a buyer. You'd be perfect for it!

Actually Larry, I did order an Epi Elite 335 in Cherry - fantastic price on
those at what they sell for used on ebay.

That Elite Epi in Cherry is what I wanted in the first place and had bid on
a coupe on EBAY, but wasnt willing to pay $900 for a used one or $1200 for
a new one. That's when I went down the other road with a CS-336 and ES-335.

As it turns out, I was planning to keep the 335. One last visual inspection
to find some flaw somewhere to account for the excellent pricing I got, I
discovered a major issue with it that was hidden from eyeball view, but not
a camera with flash and was not disclosed by Music123.

Both the CS-336 and ES-335 are on their way back to their respective
retailers.

If the Elite works out (and I have no reason to believe otherwise as they
are not being sold as blems), I will save $600 over those other guitars and
get what I wanted to begin with.

The Elite 335's are supposed to be very sweet guitars. So what was the
flaw you found on the 335?

That's it! It was a Givson, not Gibson as I had originally thought and when
the luthier signs his name Liu Chen in those funny Chinese letters, I have
to think something's not quite right.

Epiphone To Debut Magnificent Seven At Winter NAMM
January 17, 2006

Epiphone announced new models to exhibit at NAMM 2006 in Anaheim,
California. Each model will be unveiled during the convention and
displayed throughout the Gibson Guitar booth.

First out of the blocks is the ES-175, which is the jazz guitar of
choice. While this classic hollow-body was first launched by Gibson in
1949, this year will bring its distinctive rich tone within reach of
working musicians, via Epiphone's ES-175 reissue. With its laminated
maple top, mahogany body and pair of Alnico Classic humbuckers, this
reissue offers the same dark and sultry tone as the original, while a
hard maple neck and rosewood fingerboard ensure the performance matches
any modern design.

Yeah, but that's not the one I want. I want the one that he buys on ebay
for 40% of retail to replace the first one while he can still sell the
first one as "mint", then later sells due to some esoteric concern.
That's my baby! :-)

>> hard maple neck and rosewood fingerboard ensure the performance matches
>> any modern design.
>>
>>
> In order to get a good price on one, I'll wait until Greg buys one used
> on ebay, then I'll buy it from him.

Tom, why wait for that? I'll buy it new and then sell it used, losig lots
of money in the process. I will admit to wanting to try one, but I just
odn't see how it coudl compare to a real anymore than the Epi ES-295, ES-
335, etc compares to a real one, except in looks.

> I going to go way out on a limb and predict that Greg will order an
> Epiphone ES-175 withing days of MF listing them.

I'll probably join you on that limb :)-

>> > Epiphone To Debut Magnificent Seven At Winter NAMM
>> > January 17, 2006
>> >
>> > Epiphone announced new models to exhibit at NAMM 2006 in Anaheim,
>> > California. Each model will be unveiled during the convention and
>> > displayed throughout the Gibson Guitar booth.
>> >
>> > First out of the blocks is the ES-175, which is the jazz guitar of
>> > choice. While this classic hollow-body was first launched by Gibson
>> > in 1949, this year will bring its distinctive rich tone within
>> > reach of working musicians, via Epiphone's ES-175 reissue. With its
>> > laminated maple top, mahogany body and pair of Alnico Classic
>> > humbuckers, this reissue offers the same dark and sultry tone as
>> > the original, while a hard maple neck and rosewood fingerboard
>> > ensure the performance matches any modern design.
>> >
>> >
