#1: Rhapsody in Blue in Windsor, Canada

Posted on 2006-01-17 21:12:50 by unknown

On the weekend of January 21 and 22, I will be performing "Rhapsody in
Blue for Two Guitars and Orchestra" in a pair of concerts with the
Windsor Symphony Orchestra. This will be the 7th and 8th performances
of my transcription, which replaces the piano solo with two guitars.
Also featured on the concert will be 4 of my arrangements for
orchestra -- Spain, Caravan, Birdland and Blackbird.

My duet partner for this performance of "Rhapsody in Blue" is Craig
Wagner, from Louisville, Kentucky. Craig's playing is, in a word,
virtuosic.

For ticket information about the performance in Windsor:

For information about the transcription of "Rhapsody in Blue" for two
guitars and orchestra:

Thanks,

Tim

Tim, that's great. Windsor's too far a hike but I wish I could check
it out. I know the problems involved in getting it recroded - any luck
finding a backer? If the Lottery Corp gets their act together I'll
back you on it.

That's very cool Tim. Did you know that you've got some pretty stiff
competition? The Romero's are in Detroit (about 15 minutes away) that
night.

No luck on finding anyone interested in backing it yet. I keep my
feelers out, and hope for the best.

We'll just do our best that night. Our show is almost sold out for
Saturday night, so the Windsor Symphony must be doing their marketing
right.

Tx - I bookmarked that so I can keep an eye out for the review. The
article says, "And guitar purists might be interested to know he'll
play the Rhapsody on a Gibson L-5." Well, see, what Tim oughta do is
play it on a Warlock Metal Master
http://www.zzounds.com/item--BCRHGMMP through a Tube Screamer. That
way he'd pull the metal crowd, man, instead of that bunch of mouldy
fig coffin dodgers known as 'jazz fans.' That's the problem, see, guys
don't know how to promote themselves. I tell ya .....
