What a wonderful age we live in [message #345324] Sun, 23 July 2006 04:04

I was posting something to my web site tonight (see
www.frogstoryrecords.com, Player's Journal entry for 07/21/2006) and I
had an interesting memory.

Back in the 60's there was a TV show, "The Many Loves of Dobie
Gillis", with a beatnik character, Maynard G Krebs, who used to say
(often in relation to such everyday technology as a pay phone), "What
a wonderful age we live in."

I was writing an entry about the tune "Dindi." As I wrote it, I was
able to create links to recordings of the tune from two of my CDs.
I've been using computers since 1984. In those days, we could only
dream of the capabilities we have today to share sound files and
images.

What a wonderful age we live in.

The great thing about the technological advance in computers is everyone has
a voice on the internet. The terrible thing about the technological advance
in computers is everyone has a voice on the internet.

Maynard, BTW, was played by Bob Denver (AKA Gilligan)

Much of my life revolves around the internet.
Almost all my musical contacts are via internet.
When ever I want to know anything I just search the net.
And of course the NewsGroups.
I can't imagine what life would be without the net.
And this is still the beginning.
Too bad I'm getting old.
I'd love to see what it evolves in to in 30 years.
