Yesterday, on ABC news there was a quick report about aging rock stars
and of course some of the younger generation were making statements
about how the "old" rockers are "sucking the life out of music"! But
there were some now referred to as Generation "M" who love the old
rockers. Our guys got mentioned in the listings! This all came up
becuz Rolling Stones put on a mini concert in New York.
Interesting how it's all being viewed, eh?

That it is!
A lot of younger people are discovering The Beatles and many others during
that era... finding them "outta sight".
Groovy man!

What I find interesting is the comments are hardly new. Ten years
ago, fifteen years ago, twenty years ago, you could hear the same
comments. Interesting how these old rockers are "keeping" rockers of
other generations from reaching the same plateau they reached. The
Moodies (or any other musical act from the 60s or 70s) never kept
rockers from any era from reaching that plateau -- it was either due to
lack of real talent to sustain a long term music career or the finicky
nature of later audiences, who were quick to abandon one "flavor of the
month" act for another "flavor of the month" act.
Any generation that wants their musical heroes to have a long term
career must realize their musical heroes must have their continued
support through the years as well as the ability to appeal to previous
and future generations. Any generation which fails to realize that has
no right to complain about those acts that have staying power.

I do think the rolling stones ticket prices are unfortunate. I will at
least give the Moodies credit for one thing: they don't make their fans
jump through a ridiculous amount of hoops just to get a good seat at a
show.
I saw the rolling stones at the SBC center on their 40 licks tour, and
the ticket prices were outrageous as they ended up not being worth it.
The only reason why I paid it was because I really liked a lot of the
stones music and thought that it might be the last chance to see those
old dinosaurs, so I thought I'd get in one the fun. But one of the
sticking points with me was the stupid and crass pre-sales that the
Stones had going on with Scam Goody and their official website. I
heard quite a few were burned. When I went to ticketmaster on the day
of public sale for that stones show, all the good tickets were gone.
It was total bullshit.
The actual performance by the stones in San Antonio really didn't
justify the high price in the seat I was in. For the money I paid,
the stones should've washed my car and checked the oil. And Mick
Jagger talked a lot of BS about how they had practiced over 100 songs,
but in fact, the set lists pretty much remained the same for all the
arena shows. A lot of the songs actually sounded very under-rehearsed
and too sloppy, especially Gimme Shelter and Wild Horses. The stones
are playing again soon in Texas, but this time I'm not going to waste
my money. I think I've heard that they have now raised their prices
and that if you want a good seat on the floor, it will probably cost
you over $450. The stones have turned away from their rock 'n' roll
roots and has become a band for the rich man who wears a polo shirt and
plays golf all day on the course.

Hi Ty, how you been! That statement sums it up right there. To those that
say "they do it because they like it and don't need the money" then how
about they go back to the $30 ticket prices.
