Some Most Unlikely Events To Occur [message #230260] Tue, 10 May 2005 01:04

Like it or not here is a list of some events that are most likely *not*
to occur:

1. The Induction of The Moody Blues into The Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame.

While this event should happen, it's not going to happen anytime in
the foreseeable future.

2. The Moody Blues have a hit CD.
Hopefully, the Moody Blues will make at least one more CD, but it
will never make it as a hit no matter how good it is. It could be the
best Moody Blues recording ever, but, given the current market and
radio situation it would never make it to a position high enough in the
charts to be considered a hit.

3. Patrick Moraz returns as Moody Blues keyboardist.
This is just not going to happen. No Way. No How.

4. Patrick Moraz becomes regarded as the best keyboardist the Moodies
ever had.
Again, this is not going to happen. Most fans will continue to
regard Patrick exactly as they now regard him.

5. Ty Steele will continue his neverending campaign to acheive items
#'s 3 & 4 and maintaining that if item #3 happens, then item #2 will
follow.

One correction to #5:
Obviously I meant that Ty is *not* going to cease and desist from his
neverending campaign.....

He can't.

He is obsessed.

Nep is trying to help him though.

I think we all know that the Moodies as a viable, radio hit-making band
are through. By now, even Justin has to know that. He ain't dead.

But deep in all our hearts, we still have that tiny spark that as long
as they remain together and keep touring and recording, that MAYBE,
just MAYBE, despite terrible odds, we all hope that there will be one
more hit. I know I'd sure love it. There has been at least 1 song off
each album of "Keys", "Strange Times", and "December" that COULD have
made it.

Nope, Ty will never, ever give up on Patrick. A fact.

And I don't think he should give up on Patrick. I think Ty should be
like that guy on Comedy Central who spends all his time around Gary
Busey!

Of course. This isn't rocket science or a new revelation.

No he "ain't" dead and I suspect he isn't in it for the "hits". Music is his
life as it is for the others. They have been fortunate to have had the life
they desired and that allowed them to pursue their dreams. I suspect that is
what upsets some people.

Then people are deluding themselves, I think. Why anyone would continue to
hope for a chart-buster from The Moody Blues is beyond me. It's obvious it
isn't going to happen... but then, I haven't seen anyone post anything akin
to that kind of hope since I've been around here. But for me, they have done
some pretty wonderful songs in the last few years whether they were
commercially viable or not... I liked them. That is all that matters to me.

Not in today's music world I don't think so. But to have been able to enjoy
them has been a delight for me anyway. I still have an abundance of their
music to provide a nice backdrop for any mood I might find myself. It has
been a life-long soundtrack. The vast majority of bands can't lay claim to
that kind of longevity. Period.

Of course he won't. He isn't capable.

"No he "ain't" dead and I suspect he isn't in it for the "hits". Music

I think if you are an artist, you are always in it for recognition - or
what's the point? Justin is no different. Of course he hopes for one
more hit each time they put out an album. He even said something to
the effect of "I'll be damned if I'll let this one go without proper
promotion." but I can't remember if he was talking about Strange Times
or December. Doesn't matter, I suppose. Neither of them got any promo
to speak of. Just my opinion, but I don't think music is either Graeme
or John's life. They just love to be on stage garnering adoration and
raking in what bucks are left.

"Then people are deluding themselves, I think. Why anyone would

isn't going to happen"

I don't think I'm deluding myself at all, but since they are my
favorite band, I always have a teeny tiny spark of hope something will
catch on when a new album comes out - few and far between as they are!
I wouldn't consider myself to be much of a fan if I didn't hope for
that for them, unlikely as it is. Reality and emotion are two
different things, and I think it possible that you can see one and know
it for truth, but still feel the other anyhow.

"Not in today's music world I don't think so."

On this one, I think you are absolutely right. It's all about money
and instant hits made possible by various hype machines. They will
never make it on the radio or anywhere else in the hit world of music
again, and we all know it. But there's that pesky reality vs. emotion
thing again!
