Hi,
I was wondering when the Texas tour dates go on sale? Are they already
on sale? I have checked out the local newspaper here in San Antonio,
and I've read no mention at all about the Moody Blues in the local
Weekender.
I'm also wondering if there is going to be a pre-sale involved for the
Texas tour dates, especially the one in San Antonio? If so, then why?
What happened to the days when you'd just get first in line if you
want a good ticket?
I know that when the rolling stones were playing here and had a
pre-sale through scam goody, I was really pissed off. I just see
pre-sales as being unnecessary and just another way to get more money
out of fans. I'd rather have ALL the tickets go onsale the very same
day.

I miss those days. As soon as I heard years and years ago that tickets
to concerts would start being sold on the Internet to the public
through Ticketmaster, the days of first come, first serve were dead.

Wouldn't we all! Pre-sales seldom do much good for great seats.

Not really. First in the server first opportunity to buy tickets.

True, but you can't go into the local TM outlet and cultivate your
computer TM master and do your homework and be first in line with your
"X" numbers and the event and venue codes (remember those?) all written
out so as soon as tix came up, your friendly computer TM person who you
have spent weeks getting to know can get right in there and grab that
special seat, anymore. Those were the days.
Now usually the brokers are in cahoots with TM and other agencies, and
they get all the good seats and you have to buy from them.
I'm sure we have all noticed that there are some that come out of the
woodwork and post on eBay and ticket selling boards only a couple days
after tickets have gone on sale with a goodly portion of the first 2-3
rows of seats at every venue. I could reel off a few names of those
you never see except at ticket time and then they become real familiar.

Also, it's nigh impossible to be first in the server these days.
It could be done years ago, but now everyone and his brother has a pc,
and it's so jammed, you can be in there at 10 on the dot and get frozen
out, or your system crashes, or just plain end up with row PP if you're
lucky.
I'll grant, there is a tiny minority who do well, but they are few and
far between.

By the way, Ty, it looks like Houston goes on sale April 9 at 10:00 am.
That's all I've seen. Check with the venue (Woodlands), TM, and also
Higher and Higher. H&H is keeping a list of what goes on sale when.
It's pinned at the top of the discussion page. My trust always went
with the venue. Used to call whichever of them every single day first
thing in the morning.
Good luck wherever you go.

Thanks. A while ago, I was listening to the local right wing am radio
station today, and I heard an ad for the Moody Blues upcoming show
here. It said that the tickets go onsale at 10 am in San Antonio. But
you can get them a little bit earlier online, right? How much extra
does that cost?
What is the price range for these tickets? I would like to get the
best seat available, so I'll be paying in the upper range.
I also kind of wonder whether or not I should meet up with online fans
at the show and announce who I am. Maybe I'll do something to stand
out like wear a wardrobe fit for a king with someone ahead of me
blowing a trumpet and heralding my entrance? I wonder what the
reaction will be once they know I'm the infamous "Ty Rod aka Ty Steel",
and if I'll be persecuted by the disgruntled? Perhaps it would be
better to stay "anonymous".

You're welcome, Ty. I don't recall seeing anything about San Antonio,
but again, you could bug the venue (Verizon Amph.) every day and I'm
sure they would finally tell you about any pre-sale (for all the good
it would do you) or when tix go on sale to the rabble.
Have no clue as to the price range. If you go with a broker or someone
on the ticket boards or eBay for a close seat, you'll pay a fortune.
How much is it worth to you?
Meeing up with other Fans, Ty? You'd be crucified. I don't know why
you are hated so much, but it would be suicide. I've managed to remain
anonymous for 20 years, and I like it that way. Never had the
slightest interest in meeting other fans.

I don't know about that. I wouldn't mind meeting him.
People are an interesting breed.

I'll bet my savings account that Ty is probably a pretty good guy - no
worse than anyone else - if you are sitting next to him at a concert,
shooting the shit, and he goes by his real name and doesn't blurt out,
"Oh, by the way, I'm Tyrod." Unless he would do that, how would one
know?
