I'm going to be seeing them in Chicago this summer, and I'm curious to
know if there have been any significant additions/surprises/whatever
lately from the general show structure they've had for years upon
years. I won't particularly mind if it's the same general show - I
think it's an incredibly well-calculated ebb and flow of energy - but
it would be nice to be surprised this time around (saw them in '98 and
'00, and they were my first music love back in '96-'97).

The two times I've seen them since Ray left, they did "Higher and Higher"
and "Are You Sitting Comfortably"

And, as usual, I misspelled Graeme. Sorry about that.

Mad Home, they will probably do "Forever Autumn" for you in NZ. No
guarantee, but probable. They usually do everywhere but in America.
Since s... [at] imsa.edu said they were seeing them in Chicago, I removed
"Forever Autumn" from the setlist, which is usually done overseas right
after Intermission.

Mad Home,
You might get your wish. Forever Autumn was played on the UK tour last
year, at every venue. For some reason, it doesn't get played in the
U.S. unless Justin does a solo tour.

It was definitely released as a single in the US. I got the 45 for
Christmas one year (not as an import) and remember the day I heard it
on the radio as I drove to work in 1978, I think. I thought it was one
of the most beautiful songs I'd ever heard. I still do.
I wish they performed it here. I've never heard it live from stage.
Just like overseas, Justin did it after intermission back in the fall
of 1991 at selected venues on The Small Theater Tour here, but that was
all. I was not at those selected venues.

Was Forever Autumn ever released as a Moody tune in the UK and not the US?
Otherwise, why would they perform it?

Well, yeah, I did. But that wasn't at a "concert" proper with Gorgon
and Paul. It was lovley though and the first I had ever seen him sing
it in real life after almost 20 long years. I had to admit, I had
tears after all those years of only hearing it on either War of the
Worlds Albm or the 45 I had. It ws beautiful, wasn't it? But how much
more filled out it could have been! I'll admit I've seen it on boots,
but it's not the same.

Yes... I know it was released as a single in the US... but not as a Moody
Blues tune, right?

I have found the answer to my own question...
It was released as a Justin Hayward single and that is why it isn't
performed in the US by The Moody Blues during their tours.
Forever Autumn Jeff Wayne, Paul Vigrass, Jerry Osborne. Released as a
single in the UK. Performed by Justin Hayward.
Great song but not a Moody Blues song.

Skyvoice,
True enough -- but that didn't stop Justin from performing it on every
Moody Blues show in the UK for the past two UK tours. Graeme leaves,
and Ray also left when he was still with the band, and Justin, Paul and
Gordon performed the song. Then they all left the stage, and all the
Moody Blues came back on stage and started the second set as they
normally would on a U.S. tour.
My guess is that because Forever Autumn was a bigger hit in the UK than
in the U.S. that Ray (formerly) and Graeme didn't seem to mind letting
Justin perform it without them in the UK, but somehow don't want
Forever Autumn performed as a Justin solo performance during a Moody
Blues concert in the U.S.
I'm glad I went to London both times, because Justin puts everything he
has into that song live. If he does perform it in NZ and Australia,
the fans there are in for a real treat.

Justin is very professional by not involving the other members of The Moody
Blues during it's performance since it is not a Moody Blues song. I have
never known The Moody Blues to perform a non-Moody song. That is basically
my sole point.
I imagine John leaves the stage as well since he wasn't mentioned in your
paragraph except by non-specific exclusion.
Thanks Cathy...

I should have been more specific... they have never performed a non-Moody
song live that they did not record as The Moody Blues.
Thank you.
