Just got done watching "Nights In White Satin", a Dutch dvd compile of promo
clips spanning 1967 to 1988.
This disc is better than I had hoped for - great video and sound quality,
with complete clips without anyone talking inbetween or over songs to ruin
it. Some folks here may have this stuff on traded vhs tapes from over the
years, but I didn't, so this is without question a no-brainer for anyone
wanting classic footage from the earlier years.
Everything is mimed, although the vocals on Tuesday Afternoon are live,
maybe the whole track, I wasn't sure.
A quick breakdown for the earlier stuff:
1.Nights In White Satin - color promo clip filmed outside and on a staircase
with gothic statues in the outside scenes.
2. Tuesday Afternoon - black and white "live" looking clip from Jazz Bilzen,
July 30. 1968
3. Legend Of A Mind - Maybe the best clip here - outside in front of an old
mansion, black and white - from Tienerklanken, July 30, 1968
4. Voices In The Sky
5. Ride My See-Saw
6. Dr Livingston, I Presume
All above 3 clips in color from Color Me Pop Sept. 14, 1968
7. Never Comes The Day - black and white with group miming around a bunch of
suits of armor<!>from Twien, May 16, 1969
8. Question - In color from Lulu Show, Aug. 29,1970
9. I'm Just A Singer In a R&R Band - in color from Old Grey Whistle Test,
Feb. 20, 1973
Tracks 10 through 16 are all color promo clips.
Everything is in DTS sound, by the way.
What can I say? My multi-region player cost me $40 on Ebay <a Magnavox> and
it is worth every penny to be able to play dvds like this. The disc won't
play on my region 1 player, by the way, I checked.
My total cost from Br Music in Holland was $19.93 delivered to me here in
the USA.

John, The NIWS was shot in Paris, France. Shots from Arc de Triomphe and
Pont Neuf.
The LOAM clip was shot at the Groot-Bijgaarden castle near Brussels in
Belgium, it's great.
The Tuesday Afternoon Belgium clip is definitely live!

Thanks for the info, Yvonne! Being an American I would have never known
this. I had only seen a few of those clips before, posted on the internet by
a kind fan on this newsgroup. It's nice to have them on dvd with fantastic
sound and picture!

We created the website on November 27, 2004 when they were on German TV,
doing the live version of NIWS. I taped the other clips during the years.
I'll add some some in the near future.
