SRV was a pastiche of styles and clichés. Best US bluesman - Johnny Winter.
He is the *real* deal.

I have the latest Johnny Winter album, unfortunately he's not as sharp.
Saw him a couple times a number of years ago. Totally amazing shows!
With his hot guitar, voice, backup musicians including a bass player
that played harp - oh my!!!!
I think he's the best slide player ever lived.
His work with Muddy Waters was tops!
As for slide players Bonnie Raitt's and David Lindley are hot!
David Lindley could make a lamp shade with strings of hair sound great.
When you're this good, it's a matter of personal taste. Some of my
favorite US blues guitar players 'in no particular order' are....

Jimmy Hendrix - Can't to do better than "Red House"

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but Johnny Winter the
best? I think Johnny Winter is very good and like his music, but to me he
isn't even close to people like Son House, Howlin' Wolf, Hubert Sumlin,
Muddy Waters, Elmore James, etc., etc.
