I think that "Octave", "Sur La Mer" and "Strange Times" are probably
some of the worst albums they have ever done. Can anyone else point
out the worst records they ever did. When are these guys gonna retire?

Frankly, there are a lot of songs from Sur La Mer and Strange Times I
like. A little "if-fy" on Octave.
I don't think the band ever made any bad albums. There are just songs
we each like more than others.

Same here. I enjoy them far more than I do Octave.

I also agree they never made a bad album. Some of the songs they did over
the decades I could have done without... but others like them. Just a great
all around band that loves to perform on stage!

because it gets some conversation going, thats why; It is so much more dull
if someone just came here and said "hey everyone, I like "floating" and
"House of four doors" - does anyone else like them too?"; How dull would
that be??? "Yes, I like floating too" "and me" "and me too" bah; To be fair
to this poster, those ARE probably the MB's weaker albums (not to say they
are bad) and I think its blinkered to suggest that something like Octave is
a "good" album. Put it this way, if it was by someone else, say, The
Hollies, we would not be here championing it as an all time classic would
we?
Heres to a good debate about music, and humbug to people moaning cos
something is "negative"

They'll retire when THEY choose to retire, not when complaining fans
wish they would. I take it you don't go see them live? I do, I always
do, and am in no hurry for them to retire.

I love Sur La Mer, by the way. Why don't you find an album you like
and comment on it rather than having nothing good to say?

I'm with you, Al. I hate it when a so-called fan has nothing good to
say about the Moodies.

Why ruin it for others?

Although I don't think either Octave or Strange Times are their best
albums, each album has several songs I love...and a few I don't. I base
my opinion on each song's merits and not on an entire album, nor when
it was produced and sold.

Sur La Mer easily gets my vote, with the exception of maybe three songs
I can't listen to it. The Other Side Of Life is a distant second.

I agree with you on Strange Times. I do think that Octave is also a
very weak record, but I don't think it's as much of a stink-a-roo as
the Strange Times and December. Those two take the cake as the worst
ever - hands down.

And yet you're on the record as saying you love December. Of course,
you also say you hate it.

Where did I ever say that I *love* it? You've gotta be kidding!
Please find me the particular instance in the archives where I used the
word "love" and "december" in the same sentence.

The problem with December is, while the orchestral arrangments are
admitedly beautiful, the songs themselves lack energy and fire. In my
opinion, when Patrick Moraz left the Moodies, it would be like taking a
spark plug out of a car and trying to drive it. That is precisely what
the Moody Blues of today sound like...a car coughing along with a
missing spark plug.

The same old words...saying nothing at all.

He voted for the 83 million before he voted against it.

Ty,
My brother-in-law thinks "floating" is gay. I do remember reading a
newspaper article about "Octave", they said it was a turkey that people
were snapping out, then were probably very disappointed when they heard
it (I was)

Hey... You'd better watch it. I made similar observations in here and
the nut-cases came out of the woodwork. Got threatening e-mails and
everything. I still say these albums are dung, though. And I stand by
that..
