suggestions for can't-miss folk music festivals [message #220215] Mo, 28 März 2005 02:32

Hello,

I plan to do some traveling this summer (July). Which folk festivals
should I put on my priority list? Is the Woody Guthrie festival worth
it? I'm looking mainly east coast (unless I hear the Guthrie is
killer), or, alternately, Great Britain and even Canada.

Thanks,

Danielle

Ken,

THanks for the info. I once volunteered at Clearwater -- about 10 yrs
ago (yikes!). Unfortunately, I won't be able to leave the state of
FLorida till July. (NOt that I'm incarcerated or anything).

I think I've heard of the Falcon Ridge fest. Do you know anything about
the Guthrie one?

Thanks,

d

Folks Fest in Lyons CO, August, Gorka, Patty Griffin, subdudes,
incredible scenery and locale, shooting stars....

Kerrville - it's like another planet - super nice folks, great music,
24 hour happenings, stuff happens there that happens nowhere else -
spontaneous concerts at 3AM for example. . . .

Ah, Bill Kahler; how good to see you again... :)

Been doing Kerrville 25 or so years now and highly recommend it. Looking
forward to seeing you there and especially with all the other crazies at
Camp Nashbill and Ballad Tree as always. :)
