It's very nice, how old is your son? I think it's really great that you
both play, and it must be such a joy to duet, and more and more so as
he gets older and better and better!

Yow! That kid's all over the guitar! And it works as music, too*. Lovely.

*: Hey, it wouldn't be me without a cheap shot<g>. He gets a great nylon
string sound there. A real pleasure.

JAZ,

Really great! How old is the kid? I will say that we (if I can speak of
other posters)would all be deeply dissapointed if any child of your
could not play thus. He has a bright future. You must be very proud.
Congratulations!

Jack, I really wish you would quit posting Jeremy's stuff. I'm running
out of guitars to break.

Really well done!

Jack,

You could really get everybody on their guitars or swearing them off by
letting it slip how long he's been playing guitar and how long jazz guitar.

This is truly amazing, if not depressing to me when I think of all the the
years I've been struggling and not being able to play like that : )

Out of curiosity - what are his aspirations, if any, in regards to music?

Thanks Tom. My wife (his stepmom) wouldn't believe it was him. She
thought it was me and that I was putting her on. I was working on an
arrangement of that tune over the last few days tune but after hearing
Jeremy's I decided to work on another tune. He asked me a few questions
about chord theory while he was working it out but it's all his
arrangement.

Boy, that's nice. You should be proud, as should HE. I bet he can even
post you up and shoot the turnaround J over you.
Last night, my son, also 15, who has been goofing with his sister's
electric bass, was in his room noodling. I pulled out a guitar and just
walked in and started playing along. HE DIDN'T QUIT !!! We started a
little blues thing that was growing until the wife walked in with her
new camera (bought for Christmas with Rick DelSavio's help) and ruined
the whole thing. He quit on the spot. Moral of the story
???...........uhhhh, I'll leave this alone if I want dinner tonight.....

Oh yeah, he definitely can. I abandoned my attempts at a solo

Someone asked me this in another forum:
> Was this Jeremy's arrangement?

To be clear, it's a standard tune (All the things you are) and it's
completely his (worked out) arrangement. He asked me for a few bits of
advice and a few questions about what I liked better but the
arrangement and chord subs are 100% his own. I'm trying to get him to
write this out and put it on his website.

Has anyone ever written out rubatto arrangements played freely with no
finite time signature? I'm wondering what the best way to approach this
is? He already knows Finale so it's just a matter of showing him how to
do the rubatto style arrangement...

I've seen it done with no bar lines and also with dotted bar lines in the
appropriate places. I'd personally think the no bar lines idea might be
simplest if finale can take it.

The stuff I've seen was notated in quarters and eighths and whatever for
convenience and an idea of grouping and phrasing, but it's not to be taken
literally, so there's some leeway on entering it.

Thanks Clif. Do you know of any examples online I could take a look at? I
can turn off the display of barlines in Finale though they would still be
there (logically). It may also be possible to have no barlines. I have never
tried that but someone told me there were able to get that to work for a
Russian chorale piece they were transcribing...
